The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a hillock, it is described as ‘Lisanarwer’ in gothic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a raised, circular, grass and rush-covered area (diam. 44.6m N-S; 44.3m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 4.5-7.5m; int. H 0.4-0.7m; ext. H 3.5-3.7m) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 7-10m; Wth of base 2-3m; ext. D 0.8m at S to 2.6m at N) from an overgrown earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 9m; ext. H 2m) that is missing ESE-SW. This bank has a outer fosse (Wth of top 9m; Wth of base 3m; ext. D 1m) SSW-NNE, and there is a section (L 14m) of what might be a third outer bank (Wth of base 9m; ext. H 1m) and an outer fosse (Wth of base 2m; D 0.5m) only at N. There is an entrance through the inner bank (Wth of base 2.6m) and a causeway (Wth of top 3.6m; H 0.9m) over the inner fosse at S. Rath (ME005-066----) is c. 140m to the N. Archaeological testing (20E0132) by M. McCarthy in an area (dims c. 120-c. 200m NE-SW; c. 150m NW-SE) c. 100m to the SE at the closest point produced no related material (excavations.ie 2020:020).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
