The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the crest of a SE-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 50m) defined by a scarp (max. H 1.6m at E) E-S-N that melds into the slope elsewhere, with evidence of a fosse at NNW where a NNW-SSE field bank overlies it. This is separated by a berm (Wth 10-13m) from an outer bank (Wth c. 3m; int. H 0.3m at E to 1m at W; ext. H 1.4m at S to 2.2m at W and 3m at E) and external fosse (at NW: Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 2m; D 1m) E-S-N. The outer rampart is replaced by a field wall NNW-ENE. There is a modern entrance (Wth of base 4m) and causeway (Wth 3.8m) through the outer bank at ESE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
