The National Monuments Service's description
In undulating pasture, on N side of ridge with sharp incline to NE. Surrounded by dense overgrowth which may conceal the remains of a cairn. The monument consists of the remains of a gallery (L 5m), orientated roughly NE-SW. Entrance to gallery on E, marked by single jamb stone (H 1.2m). Displaced stone leaning against this may have been the opposite jamb. Three stones represent the N side of the gallery, and a single sidestone indicates the S side. The SW end is enclosed by a single stone now leaning outwards. Segmenting jamb (H 1m), divides the gallery into two chambers; front (L 2m), back (L 2.8m) (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1964, 86).
The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 2.
