The National Monuments Service's description

Located on Holy or Camillaun Island in the NE end of Lough Corrib. The stone is located on gently elevated ground toward the middle of the island, just to N of a relatively flat area which was enclosed by field walls and was cultivated up until the middle of the 20th century. The island is now largely engulfed in scrub and ferns. A subrectangular area (1.2m N–S; 1.6m E–W) is defined on four sides by stones of unequal size and shape. On the W side it is bordered by a large erratic boulder (1.84m N-S; 1.43m E–W; H 1.2m) which has split, roughly along its N–S axis, into three pieces. The N side is defined by a large stone (1.93m E–W; 1.1m; H 0.8m) presenting a flat, vertical face on its inner edge. It is not clear how deeply embedded this stone is. At the N end of the E side, there are two close-set stones, parallel to each other. The outer, most easterly stone (0.6m N–S; 0.35m E–W; H 0.35m) has a flat, vertical inner face. Immediately to W of this, is similar-sized stone (0.7m N–S; 0.35m E–W; H 0.3m). To S of this pair, a third stone (0.74m N–S; 0.35m E–W; H 0.56m) defines the E side. A single stone (0.6m E–W; 0.5m N-S; H 0.3m) forms the S side of the possible structure. The stones are not contiguous but are spaced between 0.2-0.5m apart.
