The National Monuments Service's description

This castle, with an associated bawn (MA117-045001-), is listed in the 1635 Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo: 'Thomas oge mc Tibbot Bourck -1/4 carton of Creagh,…and 1/2 of the castle and bawn thereon;…' (O' Sullivan 1958, 55). According to Lavelle (1994, 101, no. 689) there is a 'Local tradition of castle in townland. No visible surface traces.'
