The National Monuments Service's description
In relatively lowlying, level pasture. Evidence for this Late Bronze Age habitation site was discovered within the pipeline wayleave during archaeological monitoring (01E0314) on the Lough Mask Regional Water Supply Scheme (2001-2002) (Guinan 2015, 104, 108-110). A deposit (1.5m by 1m; D 0.3m) of burnt stone and charcoal was uncovered which appeared to extend to SE beyond the wayleave. A second feature, a circular deposit (diam. 0.5-0.6m; D 0.2-0.3m) of charcoal, was located 1.5m to N. Fourteen chert artefacts were recovered, eleven of which came from the charcoal deposit. The assemblage included three end scrapers and a variety of tertiary flakes. A charcoal sample from the burnt stone deposit produced a radiocarbon date of 2488+/- 38 BP (795-410 BC). (Guinan 2015, 108-110).
