The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located in a patch of lowlying, wet rush-grown ground, bordered to SE–S by slightly higher, drier ground. At time of visit there was a small pool of standing water, possibly recently dug out, immediately adjacent at N.
A prominent, roughly kidney-shaped mound (15.5m NNE–SSW; 13m WNW–ESE; H 0.85 at NNE, 0.4m at SSW) with a distinct central depression (c. 2.5m N–S; 3.5m E–W) possibly indicating the location of a trough. The mound is lowest on the W side, with pronounced ‘arms’ wrapping around the central hollow at N and S. Two smaller surface depressions are also evident: one consisting of a circular area (2m E–W; c. 1m N–S) dug out (probably recent) of the NNW edge of the mound, and the other consisting of a shallow dip (max. dim. c 1.5-2m) on the S side of the mound. Heat-shattered sandstone fragments in charcoal-rich soil could be seen where sections of the mound had been eroded by farm stock.
A burnt mound (MA111-098----) is located c. 30m to SW.
