The National Monuments Service's description
This tucking mill (for textile processing) is recorded in the 1635-37 Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo as follows ‘the tucking-mill and corn-mill [MA111-011001-] of Castlekeele,…with the house, under lands, commons, etc. for £16st.' (O' Sullivan 1954, 109). These watermills are likely to have been located in the N end of the Castlemagarretpark New townland in the vicinity of Castlekeel castle (MA111-016----) and house (MA111-014002-), which are located on the N bank of the Robe River, however, no remains of the mills have been found and their precise location is unknown.
