The National Monuments Service's description

On the S shoreline of Island Lake, located c. 10m E of a possible castle (MA093-017002-), within a complex of earthworks (MA093-017001) associated with a moated site (MA093-017006-) and Island House, a fortified house (MA093-017003-).
There is now no trace at ground level of a building which Knox (1911, 332; ‘J’ on his plan) saw at roughly this location in the early 1900’s. Knox noted 'a rectangular trace of a stone building, 21 feet [6.4m] by 17 feet [5m], which from its position is likely to have been a gate-house of the bawn’ [of the possible castle (MA093-017002].'
