The National Monuments Service's description

In average pasture, located on a low hill, surrounded by pasture and bog. It overlooks a small lake, named Carrownamallaght or Rowans Lough on the OS 6-inch maps, which is 25m to SW. Another small lake, now dried up, is located in lowlying boggy ground c. 300m to E, and Cullentragh Lough is c. 700m to SE.
Sub-circular platform (30.6m NNE–SSW; 34.6m WNW–ESE) defined by a scarp (H 0.9-1.1m) which retains a low internal rim (Wth 1.4m).
The entrance is not clearly defined but may have been at ESE where the enclosing scarp is lowest. The interior is level, with traces of relict cultivation ridges on a NNE–SSW axis. Relict cultivation ridges are also visible in the surrounding field. A farmtrack skirts the rath at NE–E, leading to a derelict farmstead at NW. Grass cover; the rath is relatively compact and well-preserved.
