The National Monuments Service's description
Located on the summit of Croagh Patrick, c. 75m W of the enclosure (MA087-044006-) which occupies the summit plateau. It is one of several of hut sites (MA087-044009-), located at the NW and W end of the summit.
This hut site consists of an oval area (3.2m N-S; 1.7m E-W) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (Wth 0.45m at E, 1m at W; H 0.3m). It was excavated (94E0115) in 1995 (Walsh, 1996; Morahan, 2001, 21). Examination of the wall revealed no intact inner or outer wall face. In the interior, bedrock was overlain by a shallow peaty layer (D 0.14m), within which was found a fragment of a retouched flint flake, a chert flake and a chert chip. Above this was a thin layer of sod. Another excavated hut site (MA087-044007-) is located c. 100m to ENE.
