The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a flat piece of commonage to N of Leck. It lies close to S edge of a large shallow peat basin. The house site is flanked by two small hummocks to E and W, and there is a turf stack 10.5m away to SE. The site consists of a poorly defined, subcircular, stone- free area (N–S 8.3m, E–W 9.5m), delimited by an intermittent line of set boulders and stones protruding from the peat. Best defined from E, through S to W, where there are faint traces of a bank as well as suggestions of inner and outer wall faces (Wth c. 1m), particularly at SE. A prominent triangular-shaped stone (H. 0.6m) in this sector may form one jamb of an entrance (Wth 1.25m). The interior is flat and featureless except for a slight waterlogged hollow to NE of centre.
The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island. Volume 5: Archaeology. Edited by Paul Gosling, Conleth Manning and John Waddell. (Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. 2007). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
