The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a rise. There is a small stream 125m to W. A farmyard is located c. 50m to NE.
Indicated as a tree-planted subrectangular enclosure (c. 30m E−W; c. 20-25m N−S) on the 1838 OS 6-inch map and as a penannular area defined by a field boundary, open to N, on the 1919 edition.
When inspected in 1998 the remains consisted of a roughly C-shaped area (diam. 22.4m NNW−SSE) defined in a broad curve at SSE−NWW by a dilapidated scarp/field bank (Wth 0.8-1m; H 0.6m at NW, 0.9m at SW), engulfed in hawthorn bushes, which followed a natural contour. The ground within the arc of the field bank sloped gently to S. The outline of the subrectangular enclosure show on the 1838 OS 6-inch map could now be traced at ground level. Since then the curving field fence has been removed. The nature of the enclosure shown on the 1838 remains uncertain, but there is no clear evidence that it was a rath or enclosure of archaeological significance. There is a rath (MA080-003----) and a possible enclosure (MA080-002----) 40m and 200m to NNE, respectively.
