The National Monuments Service's description

In good pasture, prominently sited on the summit of a low hill. There are excellent views over a broad sweep of undulating terrain, with areas of damp ground and bog to NW and E, now partly planted with forestry.
Slightly raised circular area (18.8m N−S; 19.5m E−W) enclosed by a drystone wall (Wth 1-1.2m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.1m). The enclosing wall is narrow and roughly built of medium to large-sized stones and is very similar in size and form to the adjacent field walls. On the W arc of the cashel the enclosing wall now serves as a property boundary. At E−S, the wall (ext. H 0.6m) stands on a broad sod-covered scarp (H 1m) or slope. There is a narrow break in the wall at SE, but it does not constitute a clearly defined gap, and it is uncertain if it represents an original entrance.
A number of boulders are scattered through the interior. In the SW quadrant a ring (diam. 2m; ext. H 0.4m) of stones forms a rough ‘wall’ encloses a central pit or depression (diam. 1m; D c. 0.4m); the nature of this feature is uncertain.
