The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located on a ridge at the break of slope on SW side, overlooking the Cloonlee River. There are extensive views over rolling pastureland.
This rath is named ‘Lismore’ on the 1838 and 1931 OS 6-inch maps. It is indicated on the 1838 edition as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) bordered at W by a road and at NW by a field boundary; by the time of the 1930 edition it is depicted as a D-shaped area, indicating that the E half of the rath has been removed in the intervening period.
The remains consist of a slightly raised, roughly D-shaped area (33.5m NW-SE; 14m NE-SW) defined on curving side SE−N by a substantial scarp (ext. H 2m at S). At SSW-N the scarp has been incorporated into a field fence, outside which a farm track skirts the site. The straight side to NE is defined by scarp (H 0.80m) with a slight internal lip at its SE end suggesting it may have been incorporated into a field bank.
The interior is level and grassy. There is a possible souterrain (MA071-001001-), evident as a linear surface depression (Wth 2-3.7m; D 0.6m), in the SW quadrant.
