The National Monuments Service's description

In a flat stretch of damp pasture bordered to E by the N-flowing Mullaghanoe River, and to W by rising ground.
A grass-covered kidney-shaped, mound (10.5m N–S; c. 9m E–W; H 0.6m) composed of heat-shattered stone in charcoal-rich soil, with a shallow indentation or hollow on the E side. It appears to be located on the course of a tributary stream, which is now dried up.
At the time of inspection in 1996, reclamation works had recently taken place in the field. A NNW−SSE field bank located immediately to W of the fulacht fia had been levelled and the spoil was spread over the field. A surface spread (10.5m N−S; c. 7m E−E) of burnt stone in black soil was visible 4m to E of the fulacht fia. The source of this material was unclear –it may have been a levelled part of the upstanding fulacht fia or possibly part of a separate feature.
