In rough, rushy pasture, located at the SE end of an elongated NW–SE peaty rise or turf bank, on the E margins of an expanse of cutaway bog that stretches to W, and lies close to the NW shore of Lough Killaturly. A disused rectangular ball alley (c. 9m N−S; 5.6m E−W) lies 15m to NW, at the NW end of the turf bank.
This structure consists of a broadly slumped stone bank (Wth c. 2m) forming a U-shaped arc (6.5m E–W; 6.5m N–S), open to W. The stone arc is partly obscured by a thin covering of sod and heather; the enclosed space is also heather-covered but feels stony underfoot. The function and date of this structure is uncertain.
A sod-covered linear feature (L 3.5m NW–SE; Wth 1.2m; H 0.15-0.3m), possibly a wall, lies immediately in front of the open side of the arc, and appears to extend to NW beneath the SE end of the oblong peat-covered rise or turf bank (c. 25m NW–SE; c. 11m NE–SW; H c. 1m). The turf bank is evident as a low, heather-covered island rising from the surrounding flat damp pasture. A few stones are exposed or protrude from the NW end of the peat rise –but it is unclear if they have any archaeological significance.
