The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the line of a stream/drain, which coincides with the townland boundary. There is rising ground to N−NW, and a flat expanse of wettish land to S.
An irregular-shaped pool, c. 10m across, is enclosed within a thicket of reeds, bog myrtle and marsh vegetation. The pool is at least 1m deep, with a soft muddy base. A rough stone wall, coinciding with the townland boundary, is evident on the S side of the pool.
