Megalithic tomb - unclassified

In an area of level pasture, with rising ground to W. There is a lake, named Lough Agawna on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps, 120m to SE.
This megalithic structure is not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. It consists of a low, oblong mound (6m E-W; 4m N-S; H 1m) of earth and stone, with four large boulders on its perimeter.
The E end is faced with a single, large upright boulder (L 2m N-S; T 0.6-0.7m; H 0.6m), extending almost the full width of this short side. Another large upright boulder (L 1.6m E-W; T 0.8-0.9m; H 1.35m) is located 1.25m E of this, roughly mid-way along the long S side of the mound. A third upright boulder (L 1.5m E-W; T 0.65m; H 1.35m) stands against the N face of the mound, more or less in line and parallel with the boulder on the S side. A large prostrate stone (max. dim.1.2m; T 0.3m) overlies the sloping W edge of the mound. The mound is irregular in shape, narrowing somewhat at the E end, with an uneven, undulating top, and has a dilapidated appearance. An accumulation of small stones on the top appear to be the result of field clearance activities. A hawthorn and an ash tree grow from the edge of the N side towards its W end.
The mound incorporates field clearance stones on its upper surface, but it is unclear, whether its core is primarily composed of earth or stone, and whether the upright boulders are set in the ground or merely pushed against the mound.
