The National Monuments Service's description
In average pasture, located in an expanse of flat, poorly drained land that stretches c. 250m to N to the shores of Killala Bay. Immediately to S the ground rises abruptly for several meters to a rocky terrace on top of which there is a church (MA022-021001-).
This well is named ‘Tobermore’ on the 1838 and 1929 OS 6-inch maps. It consists of a marshy pool, fed by a natural spring rising from the base of the rocky knoll. It is now incorporated into a broad modern drain that extends to N.
Little is known about this well, but its proximity to the church suggests that it may have been a holy well.
