The National Monuments Service's description
In undulating pasture, located on a ridge, in the SW of Townplots West townland, close to the boundary junction with two other townlands, Rathowen East and Castlereagh.
This consists of a circular area (10.5m E–W; 9.3m N-S to edge of quarry pit), with a slightly sunken interior, defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4m at SE, 3.3m at W; int. H 0.8m at SE, 0.95m at W; ext. H 1.35m at SE, 0.3m at W). A quarry pit (diam. c. 10m), which is cut into the hill slope, truncates the bank at NNW–N.
The function of this small enclosure is uncertain. It might, for instance, be the remains of a circular house, perhaps associated with a a rath (MA022-003----), which is located 30m upslope on the same ridge. There is another rath (MA022-005----) 90m to SE, and a third rath (MA022-002) is located 145m to WNW.
