The National Monuments Service's description
It is located in rough boggy rush-grown ground bordered on its W side by the curving course of the S-flowing Owenmore River. Immediately to W of the river, ground rises in a steep natural scarp to a plateau of blanket bog. Roughly square, flat-topped mound (10m N–S; 9m E–W) defined around the perimeter by a low scarp (H 1m at W; 0.5-0.6m at E) from which stones protrude in parts. The mound is covered in grass, and small clumps of rushes and heather. According to local information, it was used as a burial ground. A single row (L 1.55m E–W) of low, close-set stones (max. W c. 0.5m; H 0.2-0.3m), which protrudes from the surface on the E half of the mound, may mark a grave. The traditional name for the area is ‘Crockmhairedheas’ (spelling uncertain) (pers. comm. Liam Heffron, 2014).
