The National Monuments Service's description
In rough mountain pasture on level ground, on N side of the summit of Temple Hill (2,579 ft. OD) in the Galty Mountains with panoramic views in all directions. The cairn marks the meeting point of three townland boundaries. Present remains consist of a stone-built circular-shaped cairn (base diam. 26m N-S; top diam. 12m N-S; H 1.85m) with hollow off centre to E which appears to be the remains of modern disturbance. Numerous small holes in the side of cairn also appear to be of modern date. A concrete OSi trig. Station marking the spot height of 2579 ft. OD stands on SE side at base of cairn. A low crescent shaped roughly built wall (diam. 4m) belonging to a hut site (LI058-001001-) has been constructed in modern times immediately S of the cairn. Three low stone mounds (H 0.6m; base diam. 2m) have been built in recent times on the SW and W side of the cairn. No kerbing at base of cairn visible and no evidence of satellite mounds in the vicinity of the cairn. Herity (1974, 262) suggested that the cairn may have covered the remains of a possible passage tomb.
See attached sketch plan and section of cairn and Google Earth orthoimages.
