The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised rectangular-shaped area defined by a scarp. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised rectangular-shaped platform (dims. c. 19m N-S x 36m E-W) defined by a scarp. In 1840 the Ordnance Survey recorded this monument as one of 'two ancient forts' in the townland (OSNB Abbeyfeale to Bruree, 190). Westropp (1916-17, 22) recorded the earthwork as one of the ‘straight-sided forts’ in County Limerick. Faint trace of levelled monument visible as rectangular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. No surface remains visible on Google Earth orthoimages.
See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
