The National Monuments Service's description

Westropp (1906-7, 198) recorded the following details about Castle Creagh (an Chaisleáin Chria / castle of clay); '1540 Caislean criaidh in Duntriliag (Burke Rental). 1655 Castle creh, J. Cantwell, sold to Hugh Massy (B.D., p. 89). 1667 Confirmed to latter, then to W. Barraby, then the next year to J. Cantwell. It was afterwards a residence of the Bennetts, and had fallen into ruin by 1827 (FitzGerald, i., p. 385)'.
