The National Monuments Service's description
In poorly drained pasture, 155m E of the townland boundary with Kilmurry. Not marked on historic OSi maps. One of two barrows (LI048-033002-) excavated by Ó Ríordáin (1936, 180-181) in the townland of Cush located on Mr. W. O’Donnell’s farm and described as following; ‘The overall diameter was about 40 feet [12m] and is shown in the photography by the man and boy are standing at the extremities of a diameter of the circle. The arrows show its extent in the other direction. This barrow on excavation proved to have a surrounding ditch about 2 feet [0.6m] in depth. No “finds” were made beyond the fact that the original ground-surface was seen to be flecked with charcoal. A second similar barrow (LI048-033002-) was excavated in the same field, and others could be seen at certain states of the vegetation.’ No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Outline of ditch barrow visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/03/2018.
See attached photo from Ó Ríordáin, location marked ‘X’ on RMP map for Co. Limerick and Google Earth orthoimage.
