The National Monuments Service's description

Desmond castle shown approximately in centre of this townland on Down Survey map (depicted as a small tower) but its exact location is now lost; it was described in 17th century as 'a broken-topped peel tower with an attached dwelling-house having a high roof and chimneys' (Westropp 1906-7, 231). Description suggests a later medieval tower house with an early-17th century addition.
