The National Monuments Service's description

In reclaimed pasture, 70m NW of townland boundary with Newtown and 95m NE of townland boundary with Bottomstown. Not depicted on 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a circular-shaped area (diam. c. 19m) defined by a scarp with external fosse. Described by O’Kelly (1944, 32) as a ‘Type A Earthwork’ consisting of; ‘A circular platform surrounded by a fosse and outer bank. The latter is broken in three places. Outside it is a very slight fosse. The entrance is not recognisable. The platform is about 4’ [1.2m] high and the overall diameter is 120’ [36.5m]. To the S.E and 6’ [1.8m] from the outer edge of the fosse is a small low tumulus consisting of a slight mound surrounded by a fosse. It has no outer bank and its overall diameter is 60’ [18.3m]. Monument visible as circular-shaped platform enclosed by a rush-covered fosse with much denuded outer bank on OSi orthophotograph taken between 2005-12 and on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-13. The monument is visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 19/03/2015 with a possible external fosse from SE-S-W-N, intersected at W by a linear cropmark running NW-SE. Possible barrow (LI040-298----) described as a 'tumulus' by O'Kelly is visible to the immediate SE on OSi orthophotograph taken between 2005-12 and on Google earth orthoimages.
