The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on a break in a SSE-facing hill slope. A sandstone upright (H 1.5m; Wth 0.55m; T 0.12m), leaning 15 degrees to the S, with its long axis aligned E-W. An inscription on its S face reads "P.S./T.M./J. McCarthy/Cast"; the latter is probably an abbreviation of the townlands name. The inscription suggests that the stone was erected or re-erected at a recent date.
