The National Monuments Service's description

This townland may be the location of the medieval church of Kylteany of which very little is known (Westropp 1904-5, 414).
Westropp (ibid) recorded the following details about Kiltanna; 'Kiltanna, in Clonelty, "deMagrany," 1258 (B.B.L., p. 93), perhaps the Mayryne held by Keynsham, 1228
(ib., p. 93); Magrayny, alias Kylteany church, 1418; Magrenny,or Kyltenne church, 1615'.
