The National Monuments Service's description

Burial mound described in 1943 as following; 'This monument is situated on the highest point of a hill called Knocknastaigue (Fig. 8). It is not marked on the O.S. map. The structure consists of an oval mound which is highest at the west end and descends from this in a series of steps to the east end. At both ends are irregularly shaped hollows which may be indications of efforts to dig away the whole monument. There is no fosse around the mound. It measures 125' [38m] east to west and 50' [15m] north and south. Its greatest height is approx. 8' [2.4m]'(O'Kelly 1942-3, 174). The outline of the monument is clearly visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs.

See attached plan and profile of burial mound taken from O'Kelly 1942-3.
