The National Monuments Service's description

The Ordnance Survey recorded in 1840 that there was the 'ruins of an ancient castle adjoining Castle Iever or Tullerboy House, the residence of R. Ievers, Esq.' (OSNB Athlacca Parish, 142). The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that Walter Leo & Morcas Leo of Tullorvoy, Irish Papists, were the owners of 'a Castle [LI031-088----] a Bawne, a tatch wall stone house and another house on it' (Simington 1938, 127).
Castle Ievers and the medieval castle of Tullerboy described by the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) as a, 'Detached four-bay two-storey over basement country house, built c. 1830, with central breakfront, portico to front (west) elevation, five-bay side elevation and adjoining late medieval castle to rear (east) elevation. Castle to rear having rubble limestone walls with cut limestone crenellations having stringcourse beneath' (www.buildingsofireland.ie; NIAH Reg. No. 21903114).
