The National Monuments Service's description
In level pasture, 70m N of a townland boundary with Monaster North. Enclosure (LI031-006----) lies 300m to WSW. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi map as a substantial circular-shaped enclosure. The SW bank of the monument was levelled between 1840 and the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map where the monument is depicted as a penannular-shaped earthwork transected by a post-1700 field boundary at SW.
Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2007 and described as a D-shaped area (32m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (Wth 3.0m; H 1.15m) and an earth and stone field boundary (Wth 4.25m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.65m) aligned with mature hedgerow from ENE-E-S. A slight linear scarp forms the W-side of the monument, where a former field boundary has been removed. An external fosse (overall Wth 8.2m; basal Wth 3.2m; D 0.25m) is visible from NW-N-NNE and traces of fosse (Wth 3.55m; D 0.2m) are visible from SE-E-SSE. The interior is grass covered and is traversed by a stone wall field boundary running ENE-WSW across the NW quadrant and also by a trackway (Wth 2.2m) across the SE quadrant. Monument is visible as a roughly C-shaped area open to SW on OSi aerial orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018.
See attached Google Earth orthoimage and sketch plans, cross-sections and photographs surveyed, drawn and taken by the ASI.
