The National Monuments Service's description

The precise location of a grist mill belonging to Ballyallinan Castle (LI029-055----) in the townland of Ballyallinan North has not been identified. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that Ellen Butler, an Irish Papist of Ballyallinan was the owner of the lands of Ballyallinan which contained 'a Castle an orchard and a grist mill. Extended to Lt. John Odell by order of the p[ro]vinciall Courte for ye sum of £85 ster[lin]g. And Symon Stilles pretends some interest into it' (Simington 1938, 300).
