The National Monuments Service's description
The precise location of a medieval mill in the townland of Longford East belonging to Longford Castle (LI025-010----) has not been identified. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that Morttagh Mc Byrne of Longford, an Irish Papist, was the owner of 'a Castle house [LI025-010----] and Mill all unrepaired' (Simington 1938, 19).
