The National Monuments Service's description

No surface remains visible of any enclosure or 'fort' in area marked on OS 6-inch map. Listed by O'Kelly as a 'fort' and described as following; 'The first edition of the O.S. map shows a fort at this location, but no trace of it now remains. A sand pit was opened near the site and quarrying operations eventually caused the total destruction of the structure. It is not marked on the last (1927) edition of the map' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 180).
No antiquity or fort is depicted in this area on the first ed. OS 6-inch map, a small quarry or sand pit is depicted in the SE quadrant of the field and this feature may be the 'fort' that O'Kelly mentions above.
