The National Monuments Service's description
The precise location of a cashel in the demesne of Rockfield House in the parish of Ardcanny has not been identified. Described by Lewis (1837, vol. 1, 43) as following; ‘In the demesne of Rockfield is a very capacious and ancient fortress, constructed of large blocks of stone very ingeniously put together without mortar, and forming walls of great thicknesss'
