Monument identified as a hearth (Area B) during monitoring (Licence No. 08E0171) of topsoil stripping along the route of a Limerick County Council water mains upgrade running from Adare to Patrickswell (MacLeod & Coshman 2008, 3). Monument excavated under the same license in 1999 and described as a hearth (L 0.8m; Wth 0.7m; D 0.14m) containing a single charcoal-rich fill (ibid, 6). A circular-shaped posthole (diam. 0.31m; D 0.21m) which contained a single fill of silty clay with occasional charcoal flecking was located within the NE edge of the hearth (ibid).
