The National Monuments Service's description

Boskill House on the 1840 OS map was converted into a stable building associated with the later 19th century house also known as Boskill House. The Ordnance Survey suggested that the original Boskill House was built in the 17th century where King William III stated in 1690. The building was described as following; ‘This house which is now a thatched house and converted to that of a stable was built so early as the time of King William [1690] who lived in it for a fortnight. His army fortified it with large trenches, the last of which was only levelled about 1833. It was first built by, and for the seat of, the family of the Friends, who are still the proprietors, and have it let to the Revd. W. Power, P.P.’ (OSNB Caherconlish Parish, 303). Extensive cropmarks to the S and W of Boskill House which are visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 may represent the remains of these fortifications described by the Ordnance Survey or could be remains of a designed landscaped belonging to Boskill House demesne.
