The National Monuments Service's description
Irregular-shaped earthwork annotated as 'Caherconlish Castle (site of)' on current ed. OS 6-inch map described in the Urban Archaeological Survey of County Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, Vol. 1, 92-3) as follows: "Ringfort: An irregular shaped platform, 18m north-south by 35m east-west and up to c. 4m above surrounding ground level, is located on rising ground to the west of the village. There are good views to the north and west but restricted to the south and east. The platform is built on limestone outcrop which rises abruptly to the north, west and south-west but more gradually to the east and south-east. The feature appears to be partly natural but could have been adapted as a platform-type earthwork; there are no features on the summit."
