The National Monuments Service's description

Benedictine priory founded here in c. 1202 by William de Burgo, but 'no later record has been found so that it seems probable that the priory failed at or soon after the founders death in 1205' (Gwynn and Hadcock 1970, 104). Exact location of foundation not known.
