The National Monuments Service's description

The precise location of Knockardnegallagh Castle within the townland of Knock has not been identified. Two tower house-like structures (LI005-062----) are depicted in the townland of 'Knockardnegallagh' on the 17th century Down Survey map of the Barony of North Liberties (Hib. Reg.). Knockardnegallagh Castle described by Westropp (1906-7, 81-2) as following; '1614 Ardnegallagh and other lands held from the Corporation by T. Comyn (Inq. Exch.). 1655 Two peel towers marked at Knockardnegal (Petty 63). Cnockardnegalliagh held by Bart. Stacpole and Jas. White (C.S., xxviii., p. 81).

Hibernia Regnum: A set of 214 barony maps of Ireland dating to the period AD 1655-59. The original parish maps have been lost but the Hibernia Regnum maps are preserved in the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris (Goblet 1932, v-x). Photographic facsimiles of these maps were published by the Ordnance Survey, Southampton in 1908.
