The National Monuments Service's description

The precise location of the Custom House in Englishtown has not been identified. According to O'Flaherty (2010, 27) there was a 'Customhouse, Englishtown, site unknown, probably Merchant's Quay. Repaired in c. 1281 ... sold in 1683 (Orrery papers, 267). Closed, replaced by new premises in c. 1683'. Customhouse on East side of Merchants Quay was built, to replace former customhouse c. 1683 (Orrery papers, 267).
