The National Monuments Service's description
The Urban Survey of Limerick recorded the following details about St. Brigid’s Church; ‘The existence of this church is attested in two documents of 1200-1 which detail the possessions of the bishop of Limerick (MacCaffrey 1907, 26-7, 28). The exact location the church is unknown. Pre-Norman church dedications to St. Brigid are also known at Dublin, Waterford and Cork. In all cases they lay just outside the walls of the town’ (Bradley et. al. 1989, 325).
