The National Monuments Service's description

17th century graveslab in St. Mary's Cathedral (LI005-017015-) described in the Urban Survey of Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, 323-4) as following; ‘Wall memorial. Samuel Barinton 1693. Plaque on a pillar near the south entrance:
’MEMENTO MORY/ HERE LEITH LITTELE SAMVELL/ BARINTON THAT GREAT VNDER/ TAKER OF FAMIOVS GIFTES/ CLOCK AND CHIME MAKER/ HE MADE HIS ONE TIME GOE/ EARLY AND LATER, BVT NOW/ HE IS RETURNED TO GOD HIS CREA/ TOR/ THE 19 OF NOVEMBER THEN HE/ SCEST, AND FOR HIS MEMORY/ THIS HERE IS PLEAST BY HIS/ SON BEN 1693
