The National Monuments Service's description
Ballinvoher Castle in 'Ballynboher' mentioned in Desmond Roll of 1583 (Westropp 1906-7, 156). Exact location within townland not known. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that William Roche a burgess late of Limerick held in Ballinvoher 'one plowland with a ruinous house, & one Cottage and one Weare seate on the River of Shennan' (Simington 1938, 359).
