The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Built of rough uncoursed limestone boulders, blocks and greywacke poorly mortared. It has no datable features and is in a very ruined state. A bank c. 0.5m high and 1m wide encloses an almost rectangular-shaped area measuring 33m N-S and 36m E-W. An ogham stone (LH022-014002-) is said to have been incorporated in the wall of the church and the enclosure is reputed to have been used as a killeen. (CLAJ 1944, 293)
