The National Monuments Service's description
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007
Sub-circular area (int. dims. 27.5m E-W, 24.5m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (Wth 6.5m, H 0.3m internally, 1.4m externally) with vague traces of external fosse (Wth c. 6m, D c. 0.2m), except from S-W where a large field drain has been cut at the foot of the bank. Bank gapped in several places, though ancient entrance not recognisable. A rectangular depression (L 12m, Wth 5m, D 0.5m) leads from the W side of the bank into the interior, and appears to be modern.
