The National Monuments Service's description

Excavations in advance of a residential development at Dundalk Racecourse (Excavation Licence No. 04E1180) uncovered five concentrations of archaeological activity. 'Area 5' consisted of a large oval-shaped deposit of oyster shells (L 16.4m; Wth 10m), with a number of associated pits. Finds included a flint flake and a possible sherd of souterrain ware. 'Area's 1 2 and 3' contained a series of prehistoric pits (LH007-184----) and 'area 4' contained a fulacht fia (LH007-185----). (O' Neill 2007, 258)
