The National Monuments Service's description

Discovered during the development of playing pitches at Dundalk Institute of Technology (Excavation Licence No.02E0008). The accessible portion was 28m in overall length. Runs S to N for some 10m and then turns at right angles and runs E for c. 7m before running to SE. At the latter extremity a rectangular beehive chamber opens to the N. Floor levels vary along the course of the souterrain. Two drop holes are present at one of which there was a removable stone trap-door. Covered and preserved in situ. (Mossop 2002, 12 and 41; Mossop 2004, 375-6)
